First Data Independent Sales - Credit Card Processing
Affiliate Program Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions about the affiliate program that are not answered here, contact us. Your information request will be answered within 24 hours.

How do you track commissions and residuals due affiliates?
Most commonly, affiliates use the unique co-branded URL that contains the affiliate's name. (The URL is of the form http://www.expandyourbusiness.com/affiliateprogram/xxxx/....htm where "xxxx" is the affiliate's name. When someone clicks through your site to get to that URL, the forms submitted to us also contain the affiliate's name.

Other affiliates opt to refer to us directly. We set up an in-house partner rep who takes incoming calls from your leads.

Near the end of each month, we run a report that shows the number of accounts submitted due to a specific affiliation. Each live account earns a commission. It's that simple!

How much money can I expect to earn by promoting your affiliate program?
It is difficult for us to predict any concrete figure as your earnings will depend on your success in promoting our service. It depends on how much traffic your site currently enjoys, how many subscribers your newsletter has, how extensively you promote our service in your web site and newsletter, and so on.

How often and when will I get paid?
A payment will be sent to you by end of every month for the commissions earned during the previous month, as long as the total commissions and residuals due to you is at least $50. If the total due to you is less than $50, the balance will be carried forward to the next month.

At the end of each month we receive a report that tells us the gross amount of credit card processing residuals generated from any of our clients. As your portfolio grows and you are due to receive residuals, we will provide more complex reporting.

Suffice it to say that we do everything we can to ensure that affiliates are credited for the Merchant Account clients they generate.

How do I track my commissions and residuals?
Whenever you generate a lead through your co-branded pages, you will receive an e-mail from us. Near the end of each month, you will receive a summary of leads referred, accounts submitted, and fees paid. As your portfolio grows, we will also send residuals summaries.

Are all persons eligible to become affiliates?
We do not accept affiliates who have sites that promote spam (as described in our terms and conditions), pornographic material, violence, illegal activities such as software piracy, or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation, or age. Apart from that, generally anyone can become an affiliate. Note: Since there are some restrictions as to the types of merchant accounts First Data Independent Sales can establish (for example, we are not currently able to establish accounts for adult businesses), so businesses in those industries are generally less successful affiliates.

Can anyone from any country sign up as an affiliate? Or is this limited to U.S. residents only?
The affiliate program is open to residents of all countries. Note: Since First Data Independent Sales merchant accounts are only available to companies with a US presence, businesses located outside of the US are generally less successful affiliates.

Do I need to have my own web site in order to become an affiliate?
No, although having your own web site can help streamline your referral process. If you only had a newsletter, for example, you could generate traffic through articles and endorsements. You can also refer people directly to us by telephone or fax.

Do I need to become your Merchant Account client in order to become an affiliate?
No, but we would be happy to provide a free fees analysis to see if switching over from your current processor would benefit you.

How much does it cost to sign up as an affiliate?
It costs nothing at all. Signing up for our affiliate program is and will always remain free.

Are there any minimum number of leads or Merchant Account clients that I have to generate in order to continue as an affiliate?
No. We review your account at the end of each month prior to paying you. If your portfolio contains fifty or more active accounts, you will qualify for both commissions and residuals payments. If your portfolio contains fewer than fifty active accounts, you will only qualify for commissions payments. Some affiliates refer only one account per month, others refer hundreds. Either way, we will ensure you receive an upfront commission for accounts generated from your leads.

Can I become your Merchant Account client through my affiliate URL so that I get the lead commission for my own Merchant Account?
No, but we will include your merchant account in your portfolio so that when your portfolio reaches 50 accounts or more, you will receive a kickback on your processing fees in the form of residuals.

How do I promote your affiliate program?
Once you sign up, we will provide you with ready-made banners and a co-branded site in order to help you promote our services. We will provide you with tips and strategies that you can use to promote our services. You will be automatically subscribed to a free e-mail course in which we will tell you how to promote our affiliate program. Note that by far the most effective way to promote our service is to recommend our service to your customers, web site visitors, ezine subscribers and others who trust and respect you.

Can I promote your program using the pay per click search engines?
Yes.

Can I use unsolicited e-mail to promote your site?
Absolutely not. If we have reason to believe that an affiliate has used unsolicited e-mail to promote our service, that affiliate will be banned forever from our affiliate program. The affiliate will also lose any commissions and residuals that are due to him/her.
